State Bill adds Flexibility to School Calendar

State Bill adds Flexibility to School Calendar

Thanks to a bill passed this year, schools in Texas are now allowed to change the required number of days required for students to attend to a certain amount of minutes.

Currently, school years were required to be 180 days, but under the new regulations school districts are required to have 75,600 minutes.

W.F.I.S.D. Officials said this will not change the school calendar this year, however it could change it in the coming years. They also said it gives them more flexibility to create the longer days and shorter school years.
