Holliday and Burkburnett were the big winners Thursday morning as both swept their respective district titles in District cross country meets at Kiwanis Park in Wichita Falls.
In District 9-3A, sophomore Cryslan Tucker won the girls' 2-mile race in 11:38.44, leading the Lady Eagles to first place overall. Paradise finished second, while Nocona qualified for Regionals by finishing third. Henrietta's Leah Bullinger and Chloe Zamzow also advanced to Regionals, finishing third and sixth, respectively.
For the boys, Holliday finished first led by individual winner Eric Fulton. The sophomore ran 5,000 meters in 16:49.08 to pace the field. Boyd finished second, while Nocona again moved on with a third-place finish. Other than Holliday and Nocona, no other Texoma team placed a runner in the top-10 of that race.
In District 5-4A, Burkburnett's Madelaine Johnston led the pack in the girls' race, with a time of 11:42.01, leading the Lady Bulldogs to a near-sweep of the race. Six of the first seven runners to cross the line were from Burkburnett, with only Hirschi's Azan Sargunsingh breaking up the sweep, finishing fourth.
Iowa Park and Vernon finished in a tie for second place, both advancing to Regionals.
Vernon's Brady Aderholt finished in front of a pack of six Burkburnett runners to take the individual title in the 5-4A boys' race, with a time of 17:40.81.
The Bulldogs swept the next six spots to win the district title, while Vernon and Iowa Park were the only other full teams in the race, automatically qualifying for Regionals.
