Austin Albrecht scored two second-period goals, including the eventual game-winner on a penalty shot, to lead the Wichita Falls Wildcats to a 6-4 win over Odessa Friday night at the Kay Yeager Coliseum.
Nikita Litviak also netted a pair, scoring first and last for the Wildcats, who improved to 8-1-1 (17 pts) on the season and built on their NAHL South division lead.
Odessa actually lit the lamp first, as Matthew Rypien converted a feed from Brandon Tucker just 19 seconds in to the game to put the Jackalopes up 1-0, but the Wildcats answered quickly.
They tied it when Litviak put home the rebound of Noah Gilreath's shot at 4:46 of the first period, then quickly took the lead when Ryan Burnett scored on a goal-mouth scramble. Jonathan Lazarus added a third goal on the power play for a total of three goals in eight minutes of play.
Odessa cut the lead to one late in the first on a power play goal from Andrew McLean, before Albrecht put the game out of reach.
