District 5-5A Cross Country Results

The Rider boys cross country team, and Wichita Falls HS's Mario Maldonado, advanced to Regionals Monday at the District 5-5A Meet at Kiwanis Park in Wichita Falls.

Rider's Ryan Mickus took second place, navigating the 5-K course in 16:42.69, about 32 seconds behind Chisholm Trail's Christian Lowery.

Maldonado finished 7th in 16:59.05, while Rider's Greg Fiorentino took 8th in 17:01.22.

The Raiders finished 3rd as a team with 83 points, edging out FW Brewer (86). Luke Morath (21st), Jacob Obney (25th) and Jesus Moreno (32nd) finished out the countable scores for the Raiders, while Lance Raub and Spencer Bristo also will go to Regionals with the team.

No Texoma girls' teams or runners advanced to Regionals. Rider's Lauren Escobedo was the highest local finisher, in 24th place, and the highest-finishing Lady Coyote was Aeriana Caldwell, in 25th.

The Region I Meet, which will encompass all six UIL classifications, will be held Monday, October 26th at Mae Simmons Park in Lubbock.
