WF City Councilors Vote To Demolish Certain Buildings

City leaders in Wichita Falls  are making new efforts to clean up and demolish dilapidated structures around the city.

City officials have released a list of 16 buildings throughout the city that owners must demolish within 30 days.

Building owners had the opportunity to address council Tuesday morning and if needed, ask for a 120 day grace period to get the building fixed up.

While some residents are making plans to do that, others say finding the money to have it demolished will be hard to come up with.

"I'm just an average working guy," said Nestor Ledesma, building owner. "I don't have the funds to tear down that house."

If building owners do not have the means to demolish the building, the city will tear down the building and put a lien on the property.

City leaders granted an extension for three building owners during Tuesday's meeting. The others will be expected to have their building demolished in 30 days.
