NCAA Soccer Regional Rankings Announced

#3 Mustangs Lead South Central Region Rankings

The NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Committee released the first regional rankings of the 2015 season Wednesday afternoon with Midwestern State appearing at the top of the South Central Region.

Currently ranked third in the nation, Midwestern State sports a 10-0-1 record on the season with all of its results coming against in-region foes including regionally-ranked teams St. Edward's (Texas) and Colorado Mesa. The Mustangs have put together one of the best starts in program history, appearing in the top 10 in the national rankings the entire season and reaching No. 1 in the national poll on Oct. 6.

In the South Central Region rankings, Midwestern State is followed by Colorado Mines (11-0-2), St. Edward's (8-2-2), Colorado Mesa (10-3-1), Colorado-Colorado Springs (10-3-0) and Metro State (Colo.) (10-3-1). The top four teams from the region qualify for the NCAA Tournament.

With just four teams advancing to the NCAA Tournament, the South Central Region will begin postseason play in the NCAA Second Round (Nov. 14-15) at campus sites of the top two seeds in the region. The highest remaining seed after the second round of play will host the regional final (Nov. 19-20) and the NCAA quarterfinal (Nov. 21-22) against the winner of the NCAA West Regional.

The West Region is currently represented by California State-Dominguez Hills (11-1-2), Cal Poly Pomona (8-1-3), Seattle Pacific (Wash.) (10-1-2), California State-Los Angeles (9-2-2), California State-Stanislaus (9-2-1), Dixie State (Utah) (7-1-2), Sonoma State (Calif.) (8-4-2) and Northwest Nazarene (Idaho) (9-4-1).

The Final Four is set to begin Dec. 3 at the Ashton Brosnaham Soccer Complex in Pensacola, Florida.

Midwestern State appeared at No. 5 in the first South Central Region rankings released Wednesday afternoon by the NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Committee.

Midwestern State is 7-3-3 on the season and holds a 2-3-1 mark against the top 10 teams in the South Central Region with two of those losses coming against the top two teams in the region.

The top remaining seeds in the region will host the second (Nov. 15) and third (Nov. 20) rounds before traveling to the West Region champion for the NCAA quarterfinal (Nov. 22).
