Portions of Central Freeway and 5th street in Wichita Falls are reopen after an accident involving a truck Friday morning.
Police say the the 18-wheeler hydroplaned on Central Freeway just before midnight, then jackknifed, causing the truck's back end to strike the guardrail and cement barrier on the overpass.
The crash sent large chunks of concrete onto 5th Street. A diesel fuel leak also spilled fuel all over the road. Part of the truck was hanging off the rail.
Crews were one scene for about two hours Friday morning. All three lanes of Central Freeway were blocked off for a time while cleanup was underway and a portion of 5th street was also blocked off while TXDOT crews cleaned up the mess.
Luckily, no vehicles were traveling on 5th Street at the time and the truck driver was not injured.
