Man Arrested After Breaking Into Gas Station

A Wichita Falls teenager is behind bars after breaking into a gas station.

Officers with the Wichita Falls Police Department said two witnesses actually alerted them about the crime.  They said it happened around 9:30p.m. Friday night at the Shell Gas Station located in the 4000 block of Taft Blvd.

The witnesses called police while chasing the suspect after the crime happened.  According to police, the witnesses told them the suspect, Luis Mendoza, ran towards Pelican’s.  Then the 18-year old got into a truck with another person driving it.  However, when the driver was back out of the parking lot, he hit an officer who was pulling up to the scene in his patrol car.  The driver of the truck said he was not involved in the crime and was just there to give Mendoza a ride.

Police said the 18-year-old stole a couple of gas cans and a funnel from the gas station.  He is charged with burglary of a building.
