Wildcats Stay Hot, Take Down Ice Rays 3-1

The Wichita Falls Wildcats scored the game's first three goals to extend their regulation unbeaten streak to twelve games, beating the Corpus Christi Ice Rays 3-1 at the Kay Yeager Coliseum Friday night.

Ryan Burnett opened the scoring about five minutes into the first period, sniping one off the left post and in, from the top of the left circle, off an assist from Nick Rosa. Austin Albrecht picked up the secondary assist, one of two on the night for him.

Wichita Falls added two more goals in a 39-second stretch late in the second period to build a 3-0 lead. Nikita Litviak tapped in a feed from Jonny Lazarus for a power-play goal, then on the next shift, Austin Beaulieu tipped home an Andre Pison shot.

Julian Sime made 15 saves for the Wildcats to earn the win, allowing Corpus only one goal with just over a minute to go in the game.

After losing 4-3 at Topeka on Opening Night, the Wildcats are 11-0-2, and lead the NAHL South by 5 points over Lone Star.

The two teams will meet again Saturday night at 7:05 at the KYC.
