Wichita Falls, TX - Tuesday night a few business leaders and scouts in Texoma will be recognized at the local Boys Scouts of America's Americanism Dinner.
The event will take place at 6:30 p.m. at the MPEC in downtown Wichita Falls.
Gov. Greg Abbott, a native of Wichita Falls will be in attendance and will serve as the event's keynote speaker.
The Governor was a Boys Scouts but never became an eagle. However, he still supports the organization in whatever way he can.
At the award ceremony and dinner, local businessmen Stan Kimbell will be awarded 'The Americanism Award,' and Bill Thacker will be presented with the 'Alumnus of the Year award.'
One of the biggest highlights of the night will recognize a scout by the name of Ben Thompson.
"We have an eagle scout, that just got his eagle. He has Spinal Bifida and he is in a wheelchair, but he hasn't been given his commission yet. So, we will have an eagle scout ceremony and the governor will actually present him with his eagle scout award," said Boys Scouts of America Executive Board Member Adele Lewis.
This event is a fundraiser and all proceeds will benefit the local Boys Scouts
Tickets are $125 and will be sold Monday until the close of business. For more information call (940) 696-2735.
