Midwestern State earned the No. 1 seed in the NCAA Division II Super Region Four Playoffs and receive a first-round bye as announced Sunday afternoon on a selection show via NCAA.com.
The Mustangs, who improved to 10-1 with a 37-33 win over Texas A&M-Commerce on Saturday, jumped ahead three spots over the final regular season poll.
Midwestern makes its sixth NCAA postseason appearance and first since 2012. The Mustangs also earned the top seed after rolling to a 10-0 mark in 2011.
The Mustangs face the winner of the No. 4/5 game as Indianapolis travles to face Colorado State-Pueblo next Saturday in Pueblo. The second round game is set for 1 p.m. on Nov. 28 at Memorial Stadium in Wichita Falls.
The other side of the bracket features No. 2-seeded Ferris State (Mich.) (10-0) playing host to No. 7-seeded Texas A&M-Commerce (8-2) while No. 6 Grand Valley State (Mich.) (9-2) travles to face Ashland (Ohio) (10-0).
With a win, the Mustangs would host the Super Region Four finals on Dec. 5. The final semifinal round follows on Dec. 12 and the national championship game is set for Dec. 19 in Kansas City.
