The Windthorst Trojanettes are getting set to head to their 22nd UIL State Volleyball Tournament, all within the past 28 years!
They'll face Weimar Wednesday at 5 p.m. at the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland in the Class 2A State Semifinals. It's Weimar's first-ever trip to State in volleyball, but they did win state titles in softball in 2013 and 2014, defeating Petrolia in the semifinals on their way to the second one.
Weimar will have a definite size advantage up front, with four players -- all juniors -- listed at 5'11" or taller, including three listed at six feet or better.
In contrast, Windthorst has no players listed as taller than 5'10". They said they'll need to work on quickness and a more finesse-based offense in order to combat the Lady Cats' advantage.
