When temperatures start to drop, Faith Mission’s clothing room gets busy with people looking for winter gear.
"It's a crucial time for our clients,” said Faith Mission CEO Steve Sparks. “The people we get to serve every day don't have access to a lot of winter gear. Coats are probably one of the most important things we are able to distribute during the winter."
Last winter, Faith Mission gave out about 800 coats to the less fortunate.
Many Texomans have already headed there to get a coat for this winter.
Because there's such a big need, Newschannel 6 is helping out by hosting our annual coat and blanket drive again this year
Starting Tuesday, December 1st, we will have weekly locations where you can drop off coats, scarves, gloves and blankets. We will also have a box at Newschannel 6 on Seymour Highway.
Your donation will mean a lot to those who benefit from the coat drive.
"We are poor. We don't have any clothes or anything. We need something to wear," said Texoman Merwyn Nichols.
Faith Mission CEO Steve Sparks said, "Gloves, hats, socks, all those things we normally take for granted, there is a great need in Wichita Falls."
In addition to our box at Newschannel 6, a box is located at The Clinics of North Texas on Midwestern Parkway for one week.
Starting December 8th, the box will be located at American National Bank for one week.
Starting December 15th, the box will be located at Urban Air for one week.
Starting December 22nd, the box will be at First National Bank for one week.
Starting December 29th, the box will be at 4 Stars Auto Ranch for one week.
