WICHITA FALLS, TX - A pair of athletes with Texoma ties earned honors from their respective leagues on Monday.
Wichita Falls Wildcats forward Adam Goodsir was named the NAHL South Division Star of the Week for his efforts over the weekend. He scored two goals in each of the Wildcats' two wins over Corpus Christi, each by matching 6-2 scores. The 17-year-old rookie is second on the team in scoring with 31 points, and ranks second in the league in goals with 21 in 34 games.
The Wildcats (27-5-3, 57 points) will put their league-best record on the line this weekend with a pair of games in Amarillo, before a Martin Luther King Jr. Day matinee Monday at 2 p.m. at Lone Star.
Former Holliday Eagle star Justin Jones was named the American Southwest Conference West Division Player of the Week on Monday.
Jones, who graduated from Holliday in 2013, scored 23 points with ten rebounds in a win over UT-Dallas, which coincidentally matched him up with fellow former Eagle Reed Cummings, then followed it up with 19 points and 11 rebounds in a win over Ozarks.
For the season, he is averaging 15.4 points, 10.4 rebounds and 4.5 blocks per game for the Cowboys (10-4, 5-1).
