Nearly a year after being convicted for killing ex-girlfriend Monica Partida at her Wichita Falls home on February 8th, 2012 Jerry Joe Garza was denied an appeal by the 7th District Court of Appeals in Amarillo, Texas just yesterday.

The murder and pre-trial actions were heavily publicized in the Wichita County area. The murder and Garza had gained enough attention locally that Judge Barney Fudge moved the trial to nearby Denton County.

After two months and 21 days in court of prosecution presenting photos, physical, and DNA evidence the jury agreed that Garza was the killer. Garza was sentenced to life without the possibility of parole.

In Garza's appeal, he claims that Judge Barney Fudge do enough to warn about the importance of attending his own trial. The appeals court rejected the complaint. Meaning that new evidence would need to be presented for Garza to ever have another shot at appealing.

For now, according to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, Garza remains in jail and is currently being held in Beeville, Texas at the McConnell Facility.
