WICHITA FALLS, TX -

Mustangs drop nine places to No. 11 in D2 Media Poll

Midwestern State slipped eight places to No. 11 in the D2 Media Poll released Tuesday afternoon by the D2 Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America.

The Mustangs suffered their second consecutive loss in an 80-75 setback to Cameron Saturday at D.L. Ligon Coliseum to fall to 16-3 overall and to 5-2 in Lone Star Conference play.

The Mustangs are one of five teams from the South Central Region to receive mention in the poll joining No. 5 Angelo State (Texas), No. 18 Fort Lewis (Colo.) and No. 23 Tarleton State while Rogers State (Okla.) is receiving votes.

Augustana (S.D.) extended its winning streak to 19 games with wins over the University of Mary (S.D.) and Minot State to improve to 19-1 as the Vikings retained the top spot for the second straight week. Augustana received all 15 first-place votes.

Western Oregon remained at No. 2 by improving to 18-2 with victories of Northwest Nazarene (Ore.) and Central Washington last week.

No. 3 Fairmont State (W. Va.) (19-1) faces a pair of Top 25 challenges this week playing No. 12 West Liberty (W. Va.) Thursday at home before hitting the road to play No. 6 Wheeling Jesuit (W. Va.) on Saturday.

Lincoln Memorial (Tenn.) and Angelo State round out the first five.

Midwestern State takes on rival Tarleton State Wednesday night at Wisdom Gym in Stephenville. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.

Midwestern State dropped five spots to No. 11 in the latest National Association of Basketball Coaches' Division II rankings released Tuesday afternoon.
 
The Mustangs suffered their second consecutive loss in an 80-75 setback to Cameron Saturday at D.L. Ligon Coliseum to fall to 16-3 overall and to 5-2 in Lone Star Conference play.
