Home damaged following house fire in Wichita Falls

WICHITA FALLS, TX (KAUZ)- A child playing with a cigarette lighter is to blame for a house fire in Wichita Falls, Saturday afternoon, according to Wichita Falls fire officials. It happened around 2 p.m. at the corner of 10th Street and Taylor Street.

Nineteen firefighters battled the blaze for about 15 minutes before gaining control of the flames. There were occupants inside the home at the time of the fire, but no one was injured.

The fire caused $25,000 worth of damage to the home. The American Red Cross was called in to assist a family of five, according to Wichita Falls fire officials.
