Appeal takes 25 years off prison sentence

A Lawton man convicted of shooting and wounding a convenience store clerk in 2014, has won an appeal to lessen his prison sentence.

27-year-old Jerrell Thomas was originally sentenced to 70 years in prison for shooting the clerk in the face during a robbery.

On Thursday, he won an appeal to dismiss one of the charges, which took 25 years off his sentence.

He'll now spend a total of 45 years in prison.
