Wichita county jail repairs could be coming

Wichita county considering jail repairs

WICHITA FALLS, TX - More work is expected to be done to the Wichita County Jail.
However, it may present some obstacles.
Commissioner Lee Harvey says there used to be more than 300 jail work orders and now it is down to around 65.
But a work order to fix the jail shower pans will be the toughest to tackle.
Harvey says the project would take at least 30 days and inmates would have to be relocated.
"That place runs wide open 24/7," Harvey said. "And to relocate inmates so that we can work on the jail, it costs us a lot of money."
Harvey says it would only cost $50,000 dollars to fix the shower pans.
But it would cost $475,000 dollars to house and relocate inmates.
There is currently a bidding process going on right now for the work order.
