MSU's Grant Earns LSC Honors

WICHITA FALLS, TX - Midwestern State's Hershell Grant earned Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors Monday as released by league officials.

The senior guard from Washington, D.C. played a key role in helping the Mustangs limit Cameron to 30-percent shooting in a 79-59 win over Cameron to clinch an outright league championship Saturday night at Aggie Gym.

It was Midwestern's ninth overall league championship and seventh in the last 10 years.

Grant also contributed an efficient 16 points on 6-of-7 shooting including a pair of 3-pointers while pulling down nine rebounds with a blocked shot and a steal.

Angelo State's Omari Gudul earned top offensive honors scoring a career-high 27 points with 11 rebounds for his sixth double-double of the season in a win at Texas A&M-Kingsville.

Midwestern State opens Lone Star Conference Postseason Tournament play Wednesday night against Eastern New Mexico at the Allen (Texas) Event Center. Tipoff is set for 8:30 p.m.
