Mustangs check in at No. 7 in NABC Division II Poll

WICHITA FALLS, TX - Midwestern State jumped ahead four spots to No. 7 in the latest National Assocaition of Basketball Coaches' Division II Poll released Tuesday afternoon.

The Mustangs claimed their Lone Star Conference record seventh postseason tournament championship taking double-figure wins over Eastern New Mexico, Cameron and Angelo State last week at the Allen Event Center.

Midwestern State claimed the top seed for the NCAA Division II South Central Regional and will host the tournament for the fourth time in program history. The Mustangs open postseason play Saturday against Lubbock Christian (Texas). Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.

MSU is one of four teams from the South Central Region to receive mention in the poll joining No. 4 Fort Lewis (Colo.) and No. 16 Angelo State (Texas) while Colorado Mines is receiving votes.

Lincoln Memorial (Tenn.) claimed 13 of the 16 first-place votes to take over the top spot followed by Augustana (S.D.), Western Oregon, Fort Lewis and West Liberty (W. Va.).
