Baker, Craig pace Mustangs to 8th-place showing at Rattler Invitational

SAN ANTONIO, TX (KAUZ) -

Midwestern State's Jared Baker fired a tournament final round best 68 to lead the Mustangs to an eighth-place showing in the Rattler Invitational at the Par-72, 7,121-yard Republic of Texas Golf Course.

The junior from Holliday recorded six birdies, two bogies and 10 pars to go 4-under while finishing the tournament tied for 15th with a two-round total of 219 (+3).

The Mustangs placed eighth as a team with a three-round total of 885 (+21) scoring rounds of 295, 296 and 294. MSU closed 34 strokes behind team titling Indian Hills CC (Iowa) which marked a 13-under total of 851.

Freshman Chance Craig delivered his first Top-10 finish of his career chasing opening day scores of 70 and 70 with a third-round 76 to log a total of 216 (E).

Craig finished 11 strokes off the pace of co-medalists Jackson Bugdalski of Indian Hills CC (66, 68, 71) and Henderson State's Mauricio Lira (67, 70, 68) who logged  11-under totals of 205.

Junior Colton Dorion tied for 38th logging scores of 72, 76 and 76 for a total of 224 (+8), while junior Thomas Smith finished 44th (227/ +11) and senior Ian Gallagher was 49th (228/+12).

Midwestern State next competes in the St. Edward's Invitational played at the Onion Creek Country Club from March 28-29.
