“Our aim is not just to restart the hospital, but to advance to a point that it becomes a regional center,” said Doctor Hashmi.
This goal will require physician recruitment and adding new services.
“I would also like to hold town hall meetings where people can directly ask us questions and we can answer them, because our objectives are very transparent,” said Doctor Hashmi.
Lynn Heller, Bowie Memorial Hospital board CEO, said he is excited about the approval of the sale contract and believes the Hashmi Group is the right choice for Bowie.
Heller said the board received more good news, adding the Medicare audit from 2012 that was going to cost the hospital board $435,000 was dropped after the appropriate paper work was submitted.
After the settlement appeal is finalized the board will only owe Medicare an estimated $36,000.
The next step in the sale of Bowie Memorial is finalizing the documents for the change of ownership, and closing the deal which is expected to take place on May 16th.
