WICHITA FALLS, TX - Newschannel 6 continues to shine a light on the Heroes of Texoma. Wednesday we recognized retired United States Air Force Staff Sgt. Charles Dobson.
Dobson joined the U.S. Air Force in 1975. His daughter Donna said he was always a hard worker.
"I mean I really looked up to him about that. He sacrificed so much for the country," Donna Isabel said.
In the late 1980's Dobson made his was to Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls. Donna said while taking care of his military duties he also worked with KLUR. This radio gig allowed his family to meet some pretty cool people.
"It was kind of neat because I got to meet Reba McEntire, Travis Tritt. I got to do a lot of things with him," Isabel said.
While Donna said those experiences were fun, she really admired her father for his time in the service.
"It really was a humbling experience to be able to see, and then just to watch him be so involved in the community as well as being such a hard worker, I mean he set the standard high, really high for us," Isabel said.
Along with her father who served nearly 20 years for our country, she said those who serve in the military deserve the spotlight.
"I just know that they do so much to be able to protect our country, to be able to have the freedoms that we have today and yet they don't get recognized enough, they never do," Isabel said.
