MSU's Reilly Posts Provisional Mark at Baylor

WACO, TX (KAUZ) - Bridget Reilly's hard work and persistence paid off with an NCAA Division II provisional qualifying time in the 1,500-meter run Saturday night at Baylor's Michael Johnson Invitational at Clyde Hart Track & Field Stadium.

The freshman from Royalla, Australia placed fourth in a hotly contested second heat to finish ninth overall with a time of 4:33.95.

The time is the second fastest in the MSU program history a fraction of a second behind Ashley Flores' mark of 4:33.54 set last season at Azusa Pacific's Bryan Clay Invitational.

Reilly clocked the fastest time in the Lone Star Conference this season and the 37th best mark in NCAA Division II in 2016.

Kim Krezonoski also showed solid gains setting a personal record with a time of 18:12.58 to take 12th overall in the 5,000-meter run.

The senior from Thunder Bay, Ontario improved her previous best mark of 18:29.83 set at the 2013 Kansas Relays by 17 seconds. Krezonoski's time rates 14th in program history and is the seventh best in the LSC this season.

Junior Leticia Shaban also set a PR in the 5,000-meter run placing 13th with a time of 18:29.99 followed by teammates Brandi Hobson (19:06.61/14th), Sara Smith (19:26.56/17th), Gabby Ruiz (19:41.21/18th) and Brittany Adams (19:42.29/19th).

Senior Maira Salinas set a personal best mark of 12:26.62 to take ninth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase which also stands as the seventh best time in the LSC this season while freshman Stefanie Blaine finished 10th with a time of 12:48.31.

Junior Tia Streeter turned in yet another PR for the Mustangs finished 25th in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:20.17 which stands 17th on MSU's all-time performance list while junior Maranda Rodriguez took 32nd with a time of 2:30.82.

MSU's 4x400-meter relay team of Reilly, Rodriguez, Streeter and Jasmine Stokes bettered the program's best mark with a time of 4:03.77.

Junior Ana Lopez (4:58.38/28th) and freshman Michelle Rieves (5:02.86/30th) clocked the 17th- and 22nd-best times in the 1,500-meter while sophomore Angela Dees finished 33rd with a time of 5:14.25.

Midwestern State competes in the Oliver Jackson Twilight meet hosted by Abilene Christian on Wednesday.
