Witness accounts supports evidence for Capital Murder

CLAY COUNTY, Texas - An arrest affidavit states eyewitnesses to a deadly shooting of a 3-year-old boy in Clay County earlier this week match up to evidence found at the scene.

The records state George Coty Wayman pointed and discharged the gun that caused the death of the young boy.

Officials said the travel trailer where the shooting took place was processed for evidence and the evidence in the south bedroom of the trailer corroborates the witness accounts.

Wayman is charged with Capital Murder and is sitting in the Clay County Jail.

Authorities say a man is behind bars tonight in connection with the deadly shooting of a child.

Kenny Lemons says that 18-year old, George Coty Wayman, was arrested on a capital murder charge.

Deputies were called out to Buffalo Springs Road in Vashti Tuesday.

They say it appears a child was shot with a 9-millimeter handgun.

That 3-year-old was rushed to United Regional Hospital in grave condition.

He died early Wednesday morning.

Wayman remains behind bars tonight in the clay county jail.

No bond has been set on that capital murder charge.
