WICHITA FALLS, TX (KAUZ) - A WWII veteran in Wichita Falls received a nice surprise Wednesday after being the victim of a burglary.
Mr. Reed forgot to close his garage door after mowing the law of his disabled daughter's home on Tuesday.
Police said that was all it took for a thief to come by and steal his law mower. But that did not stop WFPD and Home Depot from helping this American hero.
Wednesday afternoon officers and employees of the home improvement store went to Mr. Reed's home to present him with a brand new lawn mower.
"This just shows how the Wichita Falls community can come together at a moments notice when somebody is in need," Officer Brian Bohn said.
The officer who took the report wanted to help even more. He has volunteered to mow Mr. Reed's lawn for him every week.
