WICHITA FALLS, TX (KAUZ) - About 7,000 Texoma students are ready for this upcoming school year, and it is all thanks to Project Back to School.
The event was held at the MPEC in Wichita Falls, Saturday morning to help those students whose families struggle to afford school supplies and backpacks.
More than three thousand people came out for the school supply giveaway, including a young Texoma student named Samiya Banks.
"I love my backpack, but what I love most about it are the people who made my backpack. They're caring and I like that.
Banks encourages those who are caring towards others to keep it up.
Officials with Project Back to School said this was a record setting year for the organization, since they handed out more than 7,000 backpacks.
