WICHITA FALLS, TX (KAUZ) - Restaurants in Wichita Falls have been preparing for the Hotter'n Hell Hundred in advance.
"We do start a week in advance bringing in plenty of groceries and getting the staff prepared mentally for a very busy weekend," Johnny Carinos General Manager, Tom Zurawski said.
He said his crew has stalked up on starch.
"We actually double the amount of bread we'll go through on a typical Friday night, tonight," he said.
The amount of pasta is enormous.
"We will go through about 100 pounds of dry pasta. So that equals about a 1,000 lbs of spaghetti tonight," he said.
Another place prepping for the HHH is 8th Street Coffee House.
"We open up earlier. We normally open at 7:30 am but we're going to open up at 6:00 am," Owner, Jennifer Amador said.
Amador said a popular item over the HHH weekend is their smoothies. Hundreds of restaurants in the city welcome the boom in business and the new faces.
"We have so many visitors that come to town and it's really a chance to showcase the Wichita Falls attitude and the hospitality that this small town has to offer," Zuwarski said.
