WICHITA FALLS, TX (KAUZ) - The Wichita Falls Nighthawks announced Tuesday that they've re-signed Indoor Football League Most Valuable Player Charles McCullum.
Despite missing four games with a shoulder injury, McCullum led the IFL in passing yards, at nearly 3000 for the season, with a league-best 246.1 yards per game, more than 50 yards/game better than the next-best IFL quarterback. He threw for 56 touchdowns, and was the league's most accurate passer, completing 70 percent of his passes. As a team, the Nighthawks boasted the league's top offense in points (62.6 per game) and total yards (298.6 per game).
"Getting Chuck back to lead the Nighthawks was key for the offseason. Our success as a team is based off of his ability to lead and bring an energy that most do not possess. Players want to play alongside Charles and why woudln't you. He makes everyone's job that much easier, RB's, OL, WR's and mine," said head coach Billy Back in a statement released Tuesday by the team. "Charles gets it. He plays fast and he fits what we like to do. Plus, whatever you give him, he takes it. Hands down, Chuck is the best QB in all of indoor football and it's a luxury to have him back here in Texas."
The Nighthawks also announced they will hold a tryout on Sunday in Houston.
