Y Minute: YMCA Closing in on Fundraising Goal

Y Minute: Funding

WICHITA FALLS, TX (KAUZ) - The YMCA in Wichita Falls has been raising money through their Capital Campaign.

All the money will be used for the planned upgrade to the YMCA facilities but there's still the need to close the gap in funding.

"We have raised a little over 12 million dollars. While we're really, really excited about that, now is the hard part in getting that last million, million and a half dollars," said YMCA Mission Advancement Director, Noel Filer.

The new 87,783 square foot project is anticipated to break ground later this year and the YMCA hopes to have all the funds needed before that happens.

"It's long overdue for us to do this and we're going to have an indoor soccer field, things that Wichita Falls has really needed for a community this size," said Owner of All American Super Car Wash, Larry Ayres.

Along with the indoor soccer field, the new YMCA campus will include an early childhood and youth development center, gymnasium with two basketball courts, gymnastics center, and a new pool house.

And with Texoma gives coming up on September 15th, the YMCA is looking to complete their funding.

With any amount donated towards the YMCA Capital Campaign on Texoma gives day, All American Super Car Wash will also give a free car wash to those who donate.

Ayres, Owner of All American Super Car Wash, has been a Y member for 45 years and wants to help the YMCA reach their goal.

"We've reached 90% of our goal and so we're real close. This is an opportunity where the community can get involved and be a part of taking us to the end. It's going to be something that Wichita Falls is going to be really proud to be involved with," said Ayres.
