WICHITA FALLS, TX (KAUZ) -

Wichita Falls I.S.D. opened the doors to two middle schools Sunday to allow parents a chance to check out new 6th-grade wing additions.

Lulanger Washington watched the progress as he dropped his son off to school at McNiel Middle School and brought his family to see the final product.

"I appreciate that they had an open house for us to come check it out so (I'm) just coming to check out the new additions," Washington said.

Both McNiel Middle School and Barwise Leadership Academy hosted open houses where the community was allowed to see all the work that was done.

$22 million of the nearly $60 million bond was spent for the additions which included 6th-grade wings, cafeteria renovations and locker room upgrades.

Work on another bond project, the Career and Technical Education Center has also begun.
