Mustangs move up two spots to No. 12 in AFCA Top 25

WICHITA FALLS, TX -

Midwestern State move up two spots to No. 12 in the second regular season American Football Coaches' Association Division II Poll released Monday afternoon.
 
The Mustangs enjoyed a bye in preparation for their Lone Star Conference opener against Texas A&M-Kingsville Saturday night at Javelina Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
 
MSU claimed a 31-19 win in its season opener at Truman State (Mo.) on Sept. 5.
 
Midwestern has carried a national ranking in each of the last 12 polls dating back to last season.
 
Texas A&M-Kingsville, which is receiving votes in this week's poll, improved to 2-0 taking a convincing 68-7 win last week over Simon Fraser (B.C.). The Hoggies defeated FCS Incarnate Word 31-22 in the season opener.
 
The Mustangs are one of 13 teams from the highly competitive Super Region Four to receive mention in the poll joining No. 2 Grand Valley State (Mich.), No. 5 Ashland (Ohio), No. 6 Ferris State (Mich.), No. 7 Texas A&M-Commerce, No. 10 Colorado Mines and No. 23 Colorado Mesa.
 
Texas A&M-Kingsville, McKendree (Ill.), Michigan Tech, Colorado State-Pueblo, Southwest Baptist (Mo.) and Hillsdale (Mich.) are all receiving votes.
