Wichita Falls city council approves resolution for new automated measuring system

WICHITA FALLS, TX (KAUZ) - The Wichita Falls city council approved a resolution to buy an automated measuring system for testing water meters.
The total cost will be just under $71,000.
Russell Schreiber, Director of Public Works, said that as the city moves through the process of installing new water meters, they will need to be able to test it more accurately than the current process.
"Our current test meters will not test the new magnetic meters down to the extremely low flow rates," Schreiber said.
Schreiber said reasons for testing the meters include validating the accuracy of the meter itself.
It will help with high water bill questions and meter warranty coverage.
