WICHITA FALLS, TX (KAUZ) - Four of the top tennis American players of the past decade were in Wichita Falls Thursday night for a charity match benefiting Children's Miracle Network at United Regional.
Former world-number 7 Mardy Fish, who officially retired in August of 2015, first faced off against, then teamed with current world-number 29 Sam Querrey to face the doubles team of Bob and Mike Bryan. The Bryan Brothers are 16-time Grand Slam champions, currently ranked 3rd in the world among active teams.
Querrey overcame a strong challenge from Fish to take the singles set 6-4, but the twins from California dominated the doubles pro-set, winning 8-3 in front of an excited crowd at Midwestern State's D.L. Ligon Coliseum.
Newschannel 6 Sports Director Adam Ostrow has a live report before the match, where he was joined by CMN Specialist Amber Gee of United Regional, and CMN patient Jaci Nichols, who was recently diagnosed with Type-1 Diabetes but has continued to play tennis at a high level.
