PLEASANT VALLEY, TX (KAUZ) -

Residents along Huntington Lane in Pleasant Valley said when it rains, overflow from Pond Creek is getting closer to their homes.

"If we can have something done before it is another disaster that would be great," a concerned resident said.

One gentleman, we spoke to, who did not want to go on camera, said he moved into his home on Huntington Lane in 2003. At that time flash flooding did not cause him any concerns. But when Wichita County saw flooding in 2007 and 2008, he said things changed.

"Ever since 2008, with moderate rainfall, we are faced with water coming up into our backyards and up towards our houses," he said.

Cyndi Swedberg, also a resident on Huntington Lane said rainfall Saturday night caused her family to evacuate Sunday morning.

"It's when it sets in and rains for an extended period of time and really hard like that then that creek backs up and all the water just kind of floods the area," she said.

Residents said anytime there is rain they stand a chance of seeing water coming up to their back doors.

"The rain storm prior to this weekend was just over three inches of rain within a few hours time frame and the water was up into our yard," a concerned citizen said.

Some believe they are on borrowed time.

"If we can have something done before it is another disaster that would be great," a concerned citizen said.

Newschannel 6 reached out to Wichita County Commissioner Precinct 3 Barry Mahler and an official with the Pleasant Valley Water Department for comment. Both were out of the office. We will be reaching out to them again on Wednesday.
