WICHITA FALLS, TX (KAUZ) -

An early first half goal for No. 11 Texas A&M-Commerce snapped No. 24 Midwestern State's six-game win streak and handed the Mustangs their first Lone Star Conference loss of the season in a 1-0 defeat Sunday afternoon at MSU Soccer Field.

Just 33 seconds in the contest, senior midfielder Katie Huff placed the first of two shots on goal for the Mustangs, but goalkeeper Caitlin Duty collected the attempt to keep the game scoreless.

Texas A&M-Commerce (6-3-0, 3-1-0 LSC) put a pair of shots on target in the first 10 minutes of action before Delaney Bunselmeyer sent a shot into the back of the net, collecting the rebound off Michelle Kotlik's blocked shot for a 1-0 A&M-Commerce lead in the 11th minute.

The Lions held Midwestern State (6-2-2, 3-1-0 LSC) to just one shot the remainder of the first period and limited MSU to one shot on goal the rest of the game with junior forward Destinee Williamson putting one on target in the 73rd minute.

Calling Davis’ retirement unusual may be an understatement, but it’s a much kinder term than his teammate Lorenzo Alexander used.
