WICHITA COUNTY, TX (KAUZ) - The storms from Thursday night and Friday morning left many Texomans in the dark, and as of Friday evening, Oncor reports about 665 customers are still without power.
Gordon Drake, Oncor's Area Manager, said this is an improvement from the estimated 3,000 customers that were in the dark as the storms moved through the area.
Drake said those numbers include surrounding towns like Burkburnett and Henrietta.
He adds, a couple of schools in Iowa Park and the Harrell Center in Wichita Falls were without electricity going into Friday, but it was restored by morning.
Drake said he hopes to say the same late Friday evening about the others.
"We've been working around the clock, and we have resources that have come from outside the Fort Worth area to assist us with restoration efforts. We will continue to work around the clock until we have everybody's lights restored," said Drake.
He said the biggest challenge to getting all of the electricity up and running is getting into some of the locations were the power-lines and polls are located.
Drake said heavy rain from Thursday night is forcing workers to use bulldozers to get into those areas and is adding to the restoration time
Drake advises customers who have not reported their lights out to call Oncor's outage number at 888-313-4747 or call their energy provider.
Remember if you see a down power line or pole, call 911 and do not go near it. Oncor will come out and take care of it and make sure it is not a live wire.
