WICHITA FALLS, TX (KAUZ) -

Goals by Hanna Mattinson and Destinee Williamson carried Midwestern State to a 2-1 win over Eastern New Mexico to snap a two-game losing skid Sunday at MSU Soccer Field.

Mattinson lifted Midwestern State (7-3-2, 4-2-0 LSC) to a 1-0 advantage late in the first half with her team-leading fifth score of the season after Avery Lewis sent a throughball to Mattinson before sending a shot into the net from inside the box in the 34th minute.

Eastern New Mexico (3-7-1, 2-4-0 LSC) came close to breaking a scoreless contest in the 31st minute but a shot by Anniah Galdean hit the crossbar to deny the Greyhounds an early lead.

The Mustangs placed four shots on goal in the second period before Williamson came through for the Maroon and Gold with her fourth goal of the season. After receiving a pass from Adrianna Smith, Williamson rushed past the ENMU defense on a breakaway before firing into the right corner of the net for a 2-0 MSU lead in the 85th minute.

Courtney Burnette, who made a pair of saves in the opening period, had a quiet second half in goal for the Mustangs until the final seconds. Burnette made a save on a shot by Jenna Sievers before Galdean collected the loose ball in the box and spoiled a shutout for MSU with her fourth goal of the season with four seconds left on the clock.
