WICHITA FALLS, TX (KAUZ) -

Following a double murder Monday afternoon in Wichita Falls, the family and friends of the victims are speaking out. There was a crowd of people around the house on North 3rd Street throughout the day where police found two deceased males with gunshot wounds. The mother of victim William Samuel Rankin said she discovered her son's body after she walked across the street to his house to ask him if he wanted to go out for breakfast.

Friends and other family members filled the victim's mother’s porch to show their support.
Juanita Mack was one of those people, and she said she is a close friend of Rankin’s.

“It sucks seeing the family hurt from seeing someone they love so much just gone like that. It's still hard to believe. I keep telling myself I'm going to wake up from this dream, this is just a nightmare, but the more I say that the more I know this is reality,” said Mack.
Mack said she believes Rankin may have known his killer.

The second victim in Monday’s shooting is David Wayne Phillips. His sister said her brother is a father of five. Others who knew Phillips gathered around the crime scene and prayed with a chaplain.

Sergeant Harold McClure said officers do not believe the general public is in any type of danger and asks if you know anything about this crime you are asked to call Crime Stoppers as 940-322-9888. You never have to give your name and could earn a cash reward.

Just before noon on Monday, Wichita Falls Police responded to a welfare check in the 1300 block of North 3rd Street.
Soon after arriving at the scene police entered the home and found two bodies. The bodies of a Black male and a White male were found at the scene both with gunshot wounds.
