Community Healthcare Center Offers Free Affordable Care Act Sign-up Service

WICHITA FALLS, TX (KAUZ) -

Open enrollment for the Affordable Care Act begins in exactly three weeks on November 1st. The Community Healthcare Center in Wichita Falls is the only place offering free sign-up services to help Texomans enroll in the ACA. CHCWF has three certified application councilors ready to assist.

"We're free and unbiased assistants to clients and patients who want to enroll in the marketplace or see if they are eligible," said Certified Application Councilor Rhea Wineinger.

While open enrollment lasts through January 31st of next year, if you want your coverage to be effective by January 1st, 2017, you'll need to sign up by December 15th. Karina Robb, another Certified Application Councilor, said those looking to sign up for the healthcare marketplace should prepare and have the proper paperwork.

"We need the financial information or an estimate thereof of what you think you are going to be making in a year, the amount of people in your household, the personal information of those people as well the applicant's date of birth and social security number," said Robb.

Even if you don't think that you are eligible to sign up, both councilors said there are other free health services that they can help you learn about. And if Spanish is your main language, Robb is fully bilingual in both English and Spanish.

"We have a lot of Spanish-speaking clients that come in and see me, so it's great for them. If they need somebody in Spanish, I am here to help them enroll in the marketplace," said Robb.

The Community Healthcare Center is open from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. You can click HERE to find a link to the CHCWF website and set up an appointment.
