WICHITA FALLS, TX (KAUZ) - Saturday was the 8th annual Spooktacular Car Show in Wichita Falls.
It was hosted by the volunteer services Council for the North Texas State Hospital.
This is the second year the event was held in downtown Wichita Falls and it drew quite the crowd.
The council's mission is to make the lives of patients better, and to do so, they provide the patients with things the state does not. Like newspapers, Christmas gifts and birthday parties.
Gary Southard, President of the Council for the North Texas State Hospital, said 30 years ago he was approached to help volunteer there for a party, and said that is when his spark to help those patients began.
"I went and engaged in those parties and found out that the patients were people just like you and I. They just had an illness and they needed help," said Southard.
Last year the car show raised $2,500 for the council, and this year Southard hopes to raise even more.
