Celebrities help raise money for families of shooting victims

WICHITA FALLS, TX (KAUZ) - An entire day of events raising money for the families of Lauren Landavazo and Makayla Smith took place Saturday in Wichita Falls.

Both girls were shot in early September while walking home from school. Lauren died from her injuries and Makayla was hospitalized.

The Bullies Reality Foundation reached out to Fuzzy's Taco Shop to help with its Reality Roundup. Management jumped at the chance to help.

"Well it's a part of our culture and we want to be involved with our community. It's great to be able to help other people especially in a time of need," Sara Morris, General Manager of Fuzzy's Taco Shop said.

Stars from several CBS shows like Big Brother and Amazing Race came to Wichita Falls to help raise money for the families. The Falls own James Huling was in the building.

Both Lauren and Makayla's families were presented with checks worth $5,000 each by the No Bullies Foundation.

More fundraising is taking place from 10:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. at Denim and Diamonds nightclub in Wichita Falls.
