Midwestern State earned a crucial win in Lone Star Conference play Sunday afternoon at MSU Soccer Field with a 2-0 victory over Angelo State as the Mustangs took control of third place in the league standings following a season sweep of the Rambelles on Senior Day.

Junior forward Destinee Williamson tallied the game-winning goal against Angelo State (10-5-1, 6-4-0 LSC) for the second time this season with the go-ahead strike just 2:15 into the match from the middle of the box off a pass from senior midfielder Abbey Barnum.

Junior keeper Courtney Burnette helped Midwestern State (9-5-2, 6-4-0 LSC) record a clean sheet in the opening period by collecting three of her five saves in the first 45 minutes of action.

The Rambelles managed one shot on goal in the second half before senior forward Nicole Coetzer gave the Mustangs a 2-0 cushion with a rocket from the right side from 22 yards out in the 73rd minute.

Angelo State was only able to attempt one more shot on target in the match before the Mustangs collected their seventh shutout of the season while also handing ASU its first road loss.
