Wichita Falls Police and East Side Community Coalition to host event Saturday

Wichita Falls Police is pairing up with the East Side Community Coalition for a crime prevention seminar Saturday.

The event is being held at the Police Training Center on Flood Street for the community to know about resources available to them along with crime prevention tips.

One of the big topics that will be talked about is Crime Stoppers.  Staff will be there to teach the community about how Crime Stoppers works, and how to get involved.

"Crime is all about the opportunity," said Officer Jeff Hughes with the Wichita Falls Police.  "If we can take out the opportunity from the bad guy then they aren't going to be able to make anybody victims out there and that's what we really want to do is keep everybody safe and to prevent folks from becoming victims."

They also plan to have a session on the "Next Door" program, a digital platform that acts as a community watch program.

The event will run from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
