WICHITA FALLS, TX (KAUZ) - Sheppard Air Force Base officials confirm Turkey will not be sending any student or instructor pilots to the base for the Euro Nato Joint Jet Pilot Training Program.
George Woodward, Sheppard's Director of Public Affairs, said this is temporary and not unusual
ENJJPT has 13 partner nations, and Woodward said it is designed so countries can participate in the program based on their national needs.
He adds several others have done the same thing in the past like Spain and the United Kingdom.
Turkey has been an ENJJPT partner for 35 years, and will remain a part of the steering committee, continuing to make decisions on how the program works and functions.
Woodward said this will not have a huge impact on Sheppard Air Force Base, and he does not know why Turkey has made this decision.
