WICHITA FALLS, TX (KAUZ) -
Five Rider High School seniors signed to play NCAA sports on Wednesday as the Early Signing Period began.
Three came from the Raider baseball team, with two headed to Division I schools. Shortstop Parker Kelly will play for the Texas Tech Red Raiders, while pitcher David Moffat will play for the Mavericks of UT-Arlington.
Newcomer Bryce Hughes, who has made an immediate impact on the football field but hasn't gotten on the diamond yet for Rider, will play for Division II Cedarville University in Ohio.
In addition, a pair of Lady Raiders signed on Wednesday.
Volleyball senior Lauren Wright signed with Division I Stephen F. Austin State. She hasn't been able to get on the court all season after tearing her ACL, and said SFA was one of the few schools that didn't shy away after her injury.
Finally, Rider tennis standout Maddie Rowe will stay close to home, signing with Midwestern State University. She said she liked MSU's dental hygiene program, and appreciated the insight into the Mustang program from Rider assistant coach, and former MSU standout, Alexandra McClung.
