The City of Wichita Falls is well on its way to new digital water meters.
The project, which began in July, is behind, however it is on pace to finish on schedule.
Just under 3,700 meters have already been installed in the area near Memorial Stadium.
Officials with the Wichita Falls Public Works and Utilities Department said the meters have been a little slow to install but everything is going smoothly in this three-step process to get them into the ground. In fact, testing has already been successful with the new digital meters.
The meters will provide water customers with almost real-time data on their water usage which they can track online. It will also give customers and the city more accurate readings.
The project is expected to be completed on schedule and to have all of the new meters installed by the last week of May.
City officials said the replacement of water meters is part of the advanced metering infrastructure system.
