First Painted Pumpkin Roll in Burkburnett ruled a success

BURKBURNETT, TX (KAUZ) - Some fall fun took place in Texoma Saturday afternoon.

The city of Burkburnett held its first Painted Pumpkin Roll event.

Families made their way to Friendship Park where kids painted pumpkins, played in bounce houses and rolled their pumpkins down the hill.

Organizers told our crews how they came up with the idea for this event.

We just want to have some more activity in our parks and just to get the community together

"We just want to have some more activity in our parks and just get the community together," Special Events Coordinator, Megan January said.

The first 100 kids received a free pumpkin. January said the turnout was so good they ran out of pumpkins sooner than expected.

A Christmas themed event will be taking place at Friendship Park in December.
