Mustangs to make seventh playoff appearance Saturday at Ferris State

WICHITA FALLS, TX (KAUZ) -

Midwestern State earned its seventh NCAA Division II playoff appearance Sunday afternoon as the No. 7 seed in Super Region Four as released via stream on NCAA.com.
 
The Mustangs head to Big Rapids, Mich. to take on Ferris State Saturday afternoon at Top Taggart Field. The time is to be determined.
 
The Mustangs are making their second straight postseason appearance for the first time since 2011 and 2012 seasons. MSU closed the season with an 8-2 mark finishing second in the Lone Star Conference.
 
Ferris State (9-2) rolls into the postseason riding a five-game winning streak and is coming off of a 51-17 win over Saginaw Valley State in the regular season finale.
 
Grand Valley State (Mich.) claimed the No. 1 seed and received a bye into the second round. The Lakers will face the winner of the Colorado Mesa at Texas A&M-Commerce matchup set for Saturday in Commerce.
 
MSU and Ferris State face the victor of the Colorado Mines/Southwest Baptist (Mo.) contest set for Saturday in Bolivar, Mo.
 
Midwestern State previously advanced to the playoffs in 2004, 2006, 2009, 2011, 2012 and 2015.
